Meteorologists Are Scientists Who Study the Weather
While most people know a meteorologist is a person who is trained in the atmospheric or weather sciences, many may not be aware that there is more to a meteorologists job than simply forecasting the weather. A meteorologist is a person who has received a specialized education to use scientific principles to explain, understand, observe, and forecast the earths atmospheric phenomena and how this affects the earth and life on the planet. Weathercasters, on the other hand, do not have specialized educational backgrounds and merely disseminate weather information and forecasts prepared by others. Although not many people do it, its rather easy toà become a meteorologistââ¬âall you need to do is earn a bachelors, masters, or even doctorate in meteorology or in atmospheric sciences. After completing a degree in the field, meteorologists can apply to work for science research centers, news stations, and a variety of other government jobs related to climatology. Jobs in the Field of Meteorology While meteorologists are well-known for issuing your forecasts, this is only one example of the jobs that they doââ¬âthey also report on the weather, prepare weather warnings, study long-term weather patterns, and even teach others about meteorology as professors. Broadcast meteorologistsà report the weather for television, which is a popular career choice as it is entry-level, which means you only need a Bachelors degree to do it (or sometimes, no degree at all); on the other hand, forecasters are responsible for preparing and issuing weather forecasts as well as watches and warnings, to the public. Climatologistsà look at long-term weather patterns and data to help assess past climate and to predict future climate trends while research meteorologists include storm chasers and hurricane hunters and require a Masters degree or a Ph.D. Research meteorologists generally work for the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA), theà National Weather Serviceà (NWS), or another government agency. Some meteorologists, likeà forensicà orà consulting meteorologists, are hired for their expertise in the field to help other professionals. Forensic meteorologists investigate claims for insurance companies on past weather or research past weather conditions pertaining to court cases in a court of law while consulting meteorologists are hired on by retailers, film crews, large corporations, and other non-weather companies to provide weather guidance on a variety of projects. Still, other meteorologists are more specialized.à Incident Meteorologists work with firefighters and emergency management personnel by providingà onsite weather support during wildfires and other natural disasters whileà tropicalà meteorologists focus on tropical storms and hurricanes. Finally, those with a passion for meteorology and education can help to create future generations of meteorologists by becoming a meteorology teacher or professor. Salaries and Compensation Meteorologist salaries vary depending on position (entry level or experienced) and the employer (federal or private) but typically range from $31,000 to over $150,000 per year; most meteorologists working in the United States can expect to make $51,000 on average. Meteorologists in the United States are most often employed by either the National Weather Service, which offers between 31 to 65 thousand dollars per year; Rockwell Collins, which offers 64 to 129 thousand dollars per year; or the U.S. Air Force (USAF), which offers salaries of 43 to 68 thousand annually. There areà many reasons to become a meteorologist, but ultimately, decided to become a scientist who studies climate and the weather should come down to your passion for the fieldââ¬âif you love weather data, meteorology might be the ideal career choice for you.

Mad, Am I - 872 Words
Mad, Am I? From the beginning of the story ââ¬Å"The Tell-Tale Heartâ⬠by Edgar Allan Poe, the narrator claims that he is very nervous and sensitive, but not mad and insane. Throughout the whole story he tries to make the readers believe that he is not mad by comparing his actions with the actions of a mad man. He hated the old manââ¬â¢s eye and became obsessed with it, so he planned to kill the old man even though he loved the old man. He has ââ¬Å"the sense of hearing acuteâ⬠all the things from ââ¬Ëthe heavenââ¬â¢, ââ¬Ëthe earthââ¬â¢ and ââ¬Ëthe hellââ¬â¢ (Poe). This clearly shows that either he could be a psychotic killer or mentally diseased, even though his actions while killing were precise, pre-planned, and cunning. The more he is trying to prove he is not mad, the inconsistencies in his sayings show his killing for a small reason, and the confession at end of story prove him even more insane. In the first paragraph, he explains that he has been ââ¬Ëvery dreadfully nervousââ¬â¢ and he still is while telling the story, but again, he claims that he is going to say ââ¬Ëthe whole story calmly and with detail observationââ¬â¢(Poe). He indeed speaks a senseless thing as nobody could be calm and nervous at the same time. So, itââ¬â¢s just his ignorance of accepting the fact that he is mad. On the eighth night when he tries to enter the room, he slips his thumb upon the tin fastening waking the old man. Although he claims he stayed still and quiet at that time, he actually gets afraid and shocked that he canââ¬â¢t even ââ¬Ëmove aShow MoreRelatedI Am A Mad Genius982 Words à |à 4 PagesA mad genius: a person that has an extraordinarily high IQ, and is often overly ââ¬Å"eccentricâ⬠. As Noel Carroll states in his essay, The Nature of Horror, horror is one of the genres ââ¬Å"in which ideally the emotive responses of the audience run parallel to the emotion of charactersâ⬠(Carroll 52). It is also true in Mathesonââ¬â¢s novel I Am Legend. By showing the protagonistââ¬â¢s tragic experience, the author deftly engenders the audienceââ¬â¢s sympathetic emotion to the main character, which initially makes the audience believe the main character will be a hero to heal the world. being in college Essay Example For Students
being in college Essay Prof. WuEssay #2The Learning ?Life?Everyone goes through this journey in his or life. Some fare better than others do; yet we all strive onward. The journey in I am discussing is the schooling system. It is set up for an individual to progress gradually through levels; each designed specifically for stage in which the mind is, at that point in time. Some may agree and some will disagree, but the reality is everyone is ?graded? throughout his or life according to school when it is the knowledge learned outside of class, which makes the difference.Looking back on my previous years of schooling, I have noticed that many of the subjects covered in school do not exactly deal with the ?real world.? For instance, when is the last time someone has used the number x giving the price of an item? There is no number x. Or when has someone asked for the year in which Eli Whitney invented the cotton gin. These are facts of useless information. Unfortunately, these facts must be known for a person to reach the next level of learning (grade). I do not understand why classes are not taught for an individual to learn how to change the oil in his or her car or even change the tires, common material needed for everyday life. Many times though I remember the teachers whose job was to teach the students these ?useless? facts and theories. I often admired many of them for the pure reason of them trying to adapt their teachings to ?real world? subjects. They understood that everything that they teach their students is not going to be used, but they know that it will make them a well-rounded individual. Teachers know when students do not care a lot about the subject in which they teach, as Terkel says in his essay, so they use tricks to enchant the minds of the students. ?Falling asleep is a tendency of the students,? Kelly states. History teachers for example usually talk about current events that all the students are familiar with and then tie the history event with the current event. Science teachers will conduct experiments using paper airplanes and lipstick to bring an idea across to every student. In his essay, Neusner explains different grading policies for students to grade their teachers. ?Students should look at teachers as teachers look at students,? he explains. I believe that if a teacher can make any class interesting, he or she is one of the best. Currently I am attending college. It is a whole different ballgame in a way. College is progressing the skills in which students think they do not need into valuable traits for their future job. It is learning how the ?real world? views different points and how you can view them the same way. For instance, the University of Cincinnati developed a co-op program for certain majors. This can mature a lot of minds by them working with a company who is in the field of the students? future field of work. College is also a time of freedom in a way. For many students it is their first trip away from their parents. Budgeting time out of the day to accomplish all that needs to be done usually is the main downfall of college students. I have learned very quickly that learning just book knowledge is not enough. By learning to accomplish tasks on time without always having a guiding figure present at all time is one of the most important ideas that a student will learn. How to balance out studying, partying, spending money, and so forth. Money is one of the largest problems in college. Students find themselves spending so much money and not realizing it till it is too late. Going out to bars, book fees, university fees, just loose cash in general being spent on miscellaneous items are just some examples. .u5e4aee73df41917d82b45944f77d072d , .u5e4aee73df41917d82b45944f77d072d .postImageUrl , .u5e4aee73df41917d82b45944f77d072d .centered-text-area { min-height: 80px; position: relative; } .u5e4aee73df41917d82b45944f77d072d , .u5e4aee73df41917d82b45944f77d072d:hover , .u5e4aee73df41917d82b45944f77d072d:visited , .u5e4aee73df41917d82b45944f77d072d:active { border:0!important; } .u5e4aee73df41917d82b45944f77d072d .clearfix:after { content: ""; display: table; clear: both; } .u5e4aee73df41917d82b45944f77d072d { display: block; transition: background-color 250ms; webkit-transition: background-color 250ms; width: 100%; opacity: 1; transition: opacity 250ms; webkit-transition: opacity 250ms; background-color: #95A5A6; } .u5e4aee73df41917d82b45944f77d072d:active , .u5e4aee73df41917d82b45944f77d072d:hover { opacity: 1; transition: opacity 250ms; webkit-transition: opacity 250ms; background-color: #2C3E50; } .u5e4aee73df41917d82b45944f77d072d .centered-text-area { width: 100%; position: relative ; } .u5e4aee73df41917d82b45944f77d072d .ctaText { border-bottom: 0 solid #fff; color: #2980B9; font-size: 16px; font-weight: bold; margin: 0; padding: 0; text-decoration: underline; } .u5e4aee73df41917d82b45944f77d072d .postTitle { color: #FFFFFF; font-size: 16px; font-weight: 600; margin: 0; padding: 0; width: 100%; } .u5e4aee73df41917d82b45944f77d072d .ctaButton { background-color: #7F8C8D!important; color: #2980B9; border: none; border-radius: 3px; box-shadow: none; font-size: 14px; font-weight: bold; line-height: 26px; moz-border-radius: 3px; text-align: center; text-decoration: none; text-shadow: none; width: 80px; min-height: 80px; background: url(https://artscolumbia.org/wp-content/plugins/intelly-related-posts/assets/images/simple-arrow.png)no-repeat; position: absolute; right: 0; top: 0; } .u5e4aee73df41917d82b45944f77d072d:hover .ctaButton { background-color: #34495E!important; } .u5e4aee73df41917d82b45944f77d072d .centered-text { display: table; height: 80px; padding-left : 18px; top: 0; } .u5e4aee73df41917d82b45944f77d072d .u5e4aee73df41917d82b45944f77d072d-content { display: table-cell; margin: 0; padding: 0; padding-right: 108px; position: relative; vertical-align: middle; width: 100%; } .u5e4aee73df41917d82b45944f77d072d:after { content: ""; display: block; clear: both; } READ: OBSTACLES TO THE INTEGRATION OF THE INTERNET Essay Loans can help, but that is still money, which has to be paid back at a later date in time.
